Looking for a place to prospect but not sure where to go ? Here we will list a few places that the whole family can enjoy.

  • Byron Maine - Coos Canyon Campground and Cabins located right on the Swift River where you can pan or sluice right there at the camp ground. Don't have your own equipment thats ok because they rent pans and sluice boxes there. If you just want to do a day drip and not stay over night thats good to just park at the rest area right there in Byron. Coos Canyon Rock and Gift is right across the road where you can rent or purchase equipment as well. If you would like to dredge or run a high banker then you can go to the nearby East or West branches of the Swift River.

  • Bath NH - Twin River Campground and Cottages located on the Wild Ammonoosuc River. If you plan to sluice or dredge you must first obtain a mineral dredge permit from the state of NH.

  • Plymouth Vt - Buffalo Brook located in Camp Plymouth State park. Only panning is allowed and you must provide your own gold pan, this is a good day trip. Camp Plymouth does rent cottages or stay at near-by Coolidge State Park.

These places are not by any means canned gold hunts. You can find gold right where nature has placed it just like prospectors have been doing for the past 130 years or so in these locations. For links to these locations visit our Forum.
